Traveling with pets in airplanes

There are basically 2 ways of traveling by air: unpressurized and pressurized aircraft. Bigger planes and jetliners, are pressurized, and that means that the air temperature, the air pressure and the amount of oxygen available are under control at all times, and your pets will travel comfortably. This might also be true for the cargo hold, but not always.

Unpressurized airplanes, typically travel at lower altitudes, and most of the time the altitude is not high enough to cause any trouble, but there are certain aspects to consider: Animals with any type of anemia, blood clotting disorders, ear or throat infections, and any type of breathing problems might be in danger, because the oxygen supply to the blood and brain may be impaired. Noise could also be a problem, because animals have more sensitive hearing.

Please talk to your veterinarian and your pilot in order to address any special needs!
